Systems Integration and Engineering

Federal agencies typically run dozens of systems built at different times by different vendors, each with its own data model, authentication method, and reporting interface. We connect them.

Our integration work includes data mapping between systems, API gateway deployment, message queue implementation, and building unified reporting layers across platforms that were never designed to talk to each other.

What We Deliver

System-to-system integration using REST APIs, SOAP, message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and batch file transfers. We select the integration pattern based on the systems involved: real-time APIs for interactive workflows, message queues for high-volume asynchronous processing, batch transfers for legacy systems that cannot support real-time interfaces.

Data mapping and transformation between systems with different schemas and data models. When two systems store "customer" differently, someone has to reconcile the definitions. We build transformation layers that handle the mapping, validation, and conflict resolution.

API gateway deployment with Kong, AWS API Gateway, and MuleSoft Anypoint. Gateways provide a single entry point for all API traffic with rate limiting, authentication, logging, and version management. This simplifies the security boundary and gives the agency visibility into all system-to-system communication.

Platform consolidation for merging redundant systems into single architectures with shared data layers. When three systems do the same thing because they were built under three different contracts, we consolidate them into one while preserving the data and workflows each system supported.

Cross-domain solution engineering for multi-network and multi-classification environments. Some federal integration work spans trust boundaries. We design solutions that move data between domains while maintaining the security controls each domain requires.

Identity federation across systems using SAML, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect with Entra ID and Okta. Users should authenticate once and access the systems their role requires. We build the federation infrastructure that makes this work across legacy and modern platforms. This often pairs with our cybersecurity assessments to verify the federation meets NIST 800-53 access control requirements.
